The lecture will provide an overview of the construction materials and the associated building technologies. The issue of concrete recycling will be addressed, both as industrial processes and as quality aspects related to the use of recycled concrete aggregates. The potential benefits of advanced use of recycled concrete for CO2 capture will be presented, describing both the chemical mechanisms and the industrial practice.
Finally, the topic of structural and architectural design devoted to obtain an easy dismantling and separate recycling of the building elements will be addressed, with examples of good practices around the world.
